05 Feb 2010 - Silver Spring-based hotel franchisor Choice Hotels announced its first foray into Poland Monday, with plans to franchise six hotels in the country.
The new additions to the hospitality company’s portfolio are owned and managed by Krakow-based Hotel System. The hotels include Clarion Hotel Grand Baltic Resort & Spa in Dzwirzyno, and five Quality brand hotels in the cities of Krakow, Posen, Kattowiz and Breslau.
In a statement, president and CEO Stephen Joyce said Choice sees Europe as a key market for expansion for the company. The firm has been expanding its international footprint as of late, acquiring an ownership stake, in an India-based hospitality partner in January, and announcing plans to open two hotels in Haitii later this year. The firm said it remains on track to open those properties despite damage to Haiti from the massive earthquake last month.
