Johnny Rockets (US) Opens its Fifth Costa Rican Eatery at Escazu Village

18 May 2017 - The classic American diner-style eatery, Johnny Rockets, opened the doors to its fifth locale in Costa Rica.

Located in the newly opened commercial and residential complex, Escazú Village, the new 300 square meter restaurant has a capacity for 134 diners and involved an investment of US$800,000.

Its opening generated 30 new jobs in areas of administration, customer service, cashiers, cooks and hosts.

With the inauguration yesterday, the company has invested about US$3.4 million over a 4-year period since it began operations in the country in 2013. Escazú Village’s new restaurant joins those already operating at Lincoln Plaza, Multiplaza Curridabat, Plaza Universal, and Terrazas Lindora.

“With this new restaurant we seek to consolidate our presence in the west side of San José. Thanks to our broad offering on the east side of the capital and the good reception that our customers have shown us, we saw the need to expand to other areas of the city,” said Andrea Rojas, brand manager of Johnny Rockets Costa Rica.

Johnny Rockets restaurants, said Rojas, maintain strict control of all their food by buying fresh produce, much of which is purchased locally. An example of this is the fresh meat that is used in Johnny Rockets dishes, which is never supplied frozen. “We also purchase our vegetables, bread and other key ingredients from local suppliers, who strictly follow international franchise recipes or indications. With this we look to give our customers the same quality product and service in all of our restaurants whether in Costa Rica or internationally,” added Rojas.

The franchise is now sporting a new logo, new uniforms for the staff, as well as a more modern restaurant style, and the incorporation of new technologies and menu items as part of recent changes.

“Internationally the franchise wanted to refresh its image. Like any brand with such a long history, Johnny Rockets needed to modify certain elements that were very characteristic of the brand in order to better adapt to current consumers,” said Rojas.

The iconic taste and quality of the hamburgers and shakes have stayed the same. The brand has broadened however to include products for varied tastes in its menu, such as soy burgers, portobello mushroom burgers, and chicken burgers for vegetarian, vegan and health-conscious customers.

“We are sure that the new image will be a great success as it has been in the different markets at the international level. In short, it is a fresher image, which reflects the innovation that we are incorporating in our restaurants. Our customers will feel the essence of Johnny Rockets in a more modern and stylish atmosphere,” Rojas said.

The general menu of Johnny Rockets offers more than 100 products including standard favorites like the Smoke House and Bacon Cheddar hamburger, in addition to 20 flavors of milkshakes, including the favorite Oreo® Cookies & Cream flavor.

Product prices range from ¢4,000 to ¢7,000, and the Escazú Village restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
