United Franchise Group (US) Plans to Open Jon Smith Subs Franchises in Australia

24 May 2018 - United Franchise Group hopes to open Jon Smith Subs franchises across Australia, and has specifically advertised for franchisees in the Maroochydore area.

The chain has run in the US since 1988, and there are already 15 Job Smith Subs outlets in Florida and seven more across the US.

The franchise's pitch to fast-food lovers focuses on "real ingredients" for everything from cheeses to condiments, with the french fries made to order every time.

It pledges the high-quality meat is marinated at the premises, grilled to order and never frozen. Opening a Maroochydore franchise is estimated to cost the business owner $350,000-$500,000 off the bat.

The push comes as franchisors operating in Australia go under the microscope in a Senate inquiry into franchising code of conduct, following allegations of impossible margins and financial ruin for franchisees under the embattled Retail Food Group.

The United Franchise Group is behind more than 1400 businesses in more than 80 countries.

Its only other food franchise is the Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, which operates two restaurants in the US.
