CycleBar (US) Signs Master Franchise Agreement for Australia

22 Jun 2020 - CycleBar Landing in Australia with National Master Franchise Agreement World’s Largest Indoor-Cycling Brand Brings 45 Studios to Australia

CycleBar, the world’s largest indoor cycling brand, has signed a Master Franchise Agreement in Australia, which gives the Master Franchisee, Spin X Operations Pty. Ltd., the right to license at least 45 CycleBar studios to potential franchisees over the next several years. CycleBar is a dynamic, community-based boutique fitness concept offering an immersive, multi-sensory experience in state-of-the-art “CycleTheaters,” led by specially trained instructors, enhanced with high-energy “CycleBeats” playlists and tracked using rider-specific “CycleStat” performance metrics.

The Australia CycleBar agreement is in collaboration with husband and wife entrepreneurial team Matt and Candice Gordin, along with Matt’s father Bill Gordin based in Perth, Western Australia. The Gordins have extensive experience in both the cycling and franchising world, with Matt holding the position of CEO and Candice leading the Finance & Accounting Department for BikeExchange USA, a large marketplace for bicycle products, for close to 6 years. Both have a long history in franchising, with Candice as Operations Manager for Wild Cards & Gifts, a national gift shop franchise, and Matt as Franchisee and General Manager for Bike Force, an Australian bike retailer with 24 franchised locations. Bill Gordin founded Bike Force in 1991 and is also a seasoned competitive cyclist, with a gold medal at the World Masters Championship in 2018. The first studio is expected to open in Currambine, WA in September, with recruitment for CycleStars already underway.

“We’re very excited to bring CycleBar to Australia this year. There’s a real spirit of connection and camaraderie inherent in CycleBar’s experience. The whole time you’re plugged in – whether it’s to the upbeat atmosphere, the addictive, blood-pumping tunes, the before and after session banter or the quality insights you’re getting from your instructor or the data in front of you. It’s a strong brand with proven operational success and we believe Australians will welcome such a thrilling ride experience and community,” said Matt Gordin, CEO for CycleBar Australia.

Spin X Operations has entered into the venture with parent company, Xponential Fitness, a curator of leading boutique fitness brands, including CycleBar which was ranked in 2019 among Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies in the Wellness category. In 2020 CycleBar was included on Entrepreneur Magazine’s coveted Franchise 500 ranking, as well as their Fastest Growing Franchise ranking. Xponential Fitness also has a presence in Canada, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Austria and Singapore.
