Club Pilates (US) Awards Master Franchise for Spain
06 Jan 2021 - Irvine-based pilates studio concept Club Pilates said Tuesday it signed a master franchise agreement for 50 locations in Spain.
The studios would be developed over the next 10 years by Florida Club Pilates franchisee Horacio Rosentberg, along with his brother Fernando in Barcelona and business partner Gabriel Mops.
Club Pilates began its international expansion in 2018, with a move into Canada. It has since expanded its brand into Saudi Arabia, Japan and South Korea. The company also said it has development deals inked for Germany, Singapore and the Dominican Republic.
The chain counts more than 600 locations in North America and last year’s challenges didn’t seem to weigh too heavily on the business growth plans, with 60 locations opened last year.
Club Pilates is part of a portfolio of fitness club brands owned by Irvine-based Xponential Fitness LLC, which bought the business in 2015. Sister brands to Club Pilates include Pure Barre, CycleBar, StretchLab, Row House, YogaSix, AKT and Stride.
Trade publication Club Industry on Tuesday released its annual list of the 100 largest health clubs, ranking Xponential No. 13 with $164.9 million in revenue. The revenue only includes corporate locations and franchise fees and does not take into account franchised location revenue.
Club Pilates ranked No. 28 in the 2019 ranking with 2018 revenue of $52.3 million, based on estimates. The figure also does not include franchised location revenue.
