VeganBurg (US) Plans to Franchise in Indonesia

05 Oct 2018 - Vegan fast-food chain VeganBurg announced this week its plan to franchise its concept in Jakarta, Indonesia. Locations in Indonesia would bring the company—which first opened in Singapore in 2010—back to its Southeast Asian roots. “We made the concept work in Asia—specifically in Singapore—then we put it to the test in San Francisco, and the result was exponential,” VeganBurg CEO Alex Tan said. “Expanding into the rest of Southeast Asia was a natural fit based on the region’s love for sustainability and the desire for a more plant-based dining experience.” Tan will present franchising opportunities during this week’s Franchise and License Expo Indonesia in Jakarta, with the hope of attracting several franchise partners across Southeast Asia. “With their 100-percent plant-based burgers served in an inviting and comfortable fast-casual restaurant format,” consulting firm World Franchise Associates COO Troy Franklin said, “VeganBurg offers a unique and genuine high-quality product for a new generation of health-conscious and socially minded consumers, and a great opportunity for Indonesian investors looking for the next big thing in international franchising.” In 2015, VeganBurg opened its San Francisco location in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood and honored the historic location last month with the debut of its “Summer of Love” burger—a menu option inspired by Malaysian cuisine that features a vegan fried egg.
